The City of Boynton Beach Cemetery Heritage Trail includes all three cemeteries within city limits.
Photographs are permitted in the cemeteries; however, climbing on, sitting on, or leaning against the grave markers or using any substance to improve the visibility of the inscriptions is strictly prohibited.
Barton Memorial Park Cemetery
The Barton Memorial Park Cemetery was originally an unofficial burial place for Boynton’s African-American community. There are no records to indicate when the first burial took place and there is little evidence to indicate who exactly is buried here.
Sara Sims Memorial Gardens
In 1954, the City Commission set up a committee to find a new location for a cemetery for the African-American community as the existing facilities were becoming overcrowded1.
Boynton Beach Memorial Park
The “Old Section” of Boynton Beach Memorial Park denotes the first official burial site for the citizens of Boynton.
